Austrian Competences in Aeronautics Technology

LKR Leichtmetallkompetenzzentrum Ranshofen GmbH

The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is Austria’s largest non-university research institute. As a subsidiary of AIT LKR Leichtmetallkompetenzzentrum Ranshofen GmbH forms the Competence Unit "Light Metals Technologies Ranshofen" in the AIT Center for Transport Technologies.

Technologies and competences

The business focus is centered around new aluminium and magnesium alloys and their application with steel parts and composites on vehicles. The LKR team of more than 50 specialists has both cutting-edge simulation tools as well as a unique research infrastructure at its disposal. This allows new metal alloys and customized processes for casting of lightweight components and metal forming to be developed and prototyped.
