Technische Universität Wien - Institute for Powertrains and Automotive Technology
The research work concerns all aspects of engineering and improvement of reciprocating and rotary engines with special emphasis on developing internal combustion processes using conventional and alternative fuels. The expansive field of work within the scope of engine improvement contains components development for mixture preparation, ignition, etc.
Technologies and competences
Beside 15 test benches, modern development tools are used, which include in particular one- and three-dimensional flow simulation, special measuring devices, optical investigation equipment and so on. With the test equipment, including climatic chambers (cooling down to –35°C), the requirements are fulfilled to generate expertise to quantify the engine performance and efficiency as well as to verify fuel characteristics.
