The Institute focuses on modelling and simulation of structures and materials; nonlinear stiffness and strength predictions of high performance materials like carbon and glass fibre composites, metal matrix composites, and cellular materials; computational material characterisation, development of constitutive laws, structural analyses, and impact simulations.

The Institute‘s competence is found in hard and software equipment for simulation of materials, structures and components, commercial software packages, and special purpose in-house developments.
